Curzon Ashton developing
coaches as well as players
Five of Curzon Ashton’s volunteer coaching staff, were busy last week on the new
FA youth award module 1, learning the new ideas being introduced by the national
coaching association. Curzon always looks to develop their coaches and took full
advantage of the Community Charter Standard course sponsored by McDonalds. First
team players Chris Worsley (men’s) and Carla Cleworth (women’s) both intend to
use this course and others gained at Curzon to progress up the coaching ladder
as well as getting involved with Curzon junior boys and girls. Paul Lees has
been coaching voluntary for nearly four years now and at present is also on his
level 2 coaching badge funded by the club. Aaron Mcgary and John Shorrock are
both volunteer coaches with Curzon Junior boys, between them running two age
groups. All coaches give up their time for free and help to give local young
boys and girl’s opportunity to take part in fun structured football. Anybody
wanting to join Curzon Ashton please ring mark for details on 0161 330 6033.

Curzon Ashton Christmas Tournament in May!!!!
Curzon Ashton finally got to run their annual Xmas tournament this weekend,
due to the particular heavy winter we suffered, the tournament was cancelled
three times in the Christmas holiday period. Also due to the popular playing
surface down at Curzon the first free slot for the event was Sunday 9th
May 2010, almost 6 months late. With the weather on the day being slightly
warmer than in December the players and their supporters turn out in numbers to
make it a great tournament in terms of quality and fair play. All who took part
were winners but the tournament winners on the day were U8 Reddish Vulcan’s, U9
Dukinfield Youth A and U10 Heyside.
A big thanks to all team managers and parents on the day for making it an
enjoyable tournament.
