Match Report

With the pitch being declared fit after a morning inspection, 94 hardy souls braved the freezing temperature, and, after the 90 minutes, plus 7 minutes stoppage time, they probably wished it hadn't!
Such was the play that neither goalkeeper was really called into what could be described as action, and what chances came the way of Curzon, who to be fair had most of the attacking play, they squandered.
Mark Redshaw was through on goal in the first half, and despite the attention of Wes Milnes, still managed to get a clean shot in on goal, only to strike the legs of keeper Andy Woods.
The second period was much of the same although Wakefield appeared to be more comfortable attacking up the slope, but it was the visitors who once again exerted most of the pressure.
Wakefield were reduced to ten men just after the hour mark when Jay Sobers received his second yellow card of the day, an Eddie Stanford cross eluded Mike Norton, while the same player missed what would have been a decisive goal for his side with just minutes remaining on the watch.
Curzon were also reduced to ten men three minutes into stoppage time after substitute Josh Mitten got involved with Milnes in an off-the-ball incident, leaving referee Mr Grunnill no option other than to show him a straight red.
This latest setback, Curzon have only taken 6 points from their last six games, sees the Tameside outfit overtaken at the top by Skelmersdale United on goal difference.

Curzon Ashton will be looking to get back into winning ways on Saturday when they entertain next to bottom side Chorley, who were on the end of a 7-0 thrashing from Skelmersdale United at the weekend.
