Match Report

Three consecutive away games and three defeats. That really sums up what turned out to be a more than miserable trip across the Pennines for the Tameside outfit.
With leading goalscorer Mike Norton serving the first of a two match ban the striker problems for Curzon was made even more difficult after Rhodri Giggs became embroiled in an off-the-ball incident with Ben Small early in the first half. After a brief conversation between referee and assistant, both players were shown a red card.
Curzon had the better opportunities in the opening 45 minutes, as an Andy Watson header was driven into the ground but keeper Karl Spratt managed to throw his hands up to knock the bouncing ball over the top, and a James Ogoo header ended up in the side netting from a good position.
Jean Paul Ndjebayi almost let the home side in when he was too casual with a clearance from a back pass, striking the ball against Craig Harding. Fortunately for the Curzon keeper the ball went wide of goal.
The second period was more of an even affair but Ndjebayi had to be alert when the ball skidded off the head of Kevin Parr, forcing his keeper to back-pedal to tip the ball over the top.
The winning goal came twelve minutes from time as Garforth broke quickly and won a corner on the left. Curzon failed to adequately clear the ball and as it came back into the area substitute Greg Kelly drove it high into the net.
