Match Report

With this defeat Curzon missed the chance of possible runners up spot and also the chance of playing the play off game at home against the same opponents.
Curzon will have to pick themselves up and show a lot of courage and resolve if they are to clinch promotion via the play offs but that is something that they have shown many times in the past and the fans will have to wait and see if they can do it again.
Curzon were equal to the home team for more than three quarters of this game but Skelmersdale manager made a couple of inspired substitutions to clinch the game for his side.
The first half was full of endeavour with Jorge Gazapo looking dangerous on a couple of occasions.
Curzon’s defence was holding firm with anything thrown at them and the half ended in stalemate.
Curzon began brightly in the second period but the home defence was as resolute as the visitors had been in the first period.
Out of the blue Skem took the lead on 51 minutes when a poor free kick be Carnell landed straight at the feet of Murty and he ran forward to score easily.
Stung by that goal, Curzon hit  back and after a bout of sustained pressure Giggs in the 62nd minute glanced the ball past the keeper.
Curzon looked the more likely team and only a great save by the home keeper stopped Giggs from putting Curzon going in front.
Skem made two quick substitutions and they paid off immediately when Leadbetter in the 78th minute put them in front and then two goals in two minutes sealed Curzon’s fate with Donnelly netting in the 83rd minute which was quickly followed with one from White.
