Match Report

This was 2 points lost rather than a point gained for Curzon, playing against a side similar to Leaders Greenall Padgate, Pilkington were big strong and more experienced and again Curzon learnt some lessons from this game.
Technically Pilkington were not better than Curzon and it showed when Curzon played the football but at times Curzon stopped the football and went direct like the way Pilkington played & tried to compete with them and of course were at times out strengthen.  Twice in the 1st half Curzon let the lead slip, after an excellent start Adam Buckley put Curzon in front on 12 minutes when he left Pilkington's back four for dead and then lobbed the out coming keeper Aaron Cameron.
But the lead was short lived when Curzon failed to pick up the advancing midfielder & Captain Ken Dixon, he ghosted into the box to get onto the end of a Andy Smith cross and slip the ball under Darren Riddett.  On the half hour mark Elstrom Die put Curzon back in front when he was picked out on the edge of the box he then carried the ball across the edge of the box and then struck from 18 yards low to the inside of the left hand post.
Just before the break Tony Scott was gifted with a great chance which he gladly took after Daniel Toft defensive header fell into his path. In the second half both teams tried hard to break each other down and it was the impressive Andy Scott who put Pilkington into the lead for the first time in the game. Again it was a error this time young keeper came off his line to early instead of letting the defenders deal with the situation and Scott lobbed Riddett.
Curzon then made some changes some tactical and some enforced when they lost Toft to injury and they didn't stop trying to get the equalizer and in the last minute they got a fully deserved goal. Adam Buckley about to take a last minute free kick was told to leave it for Stuart Ball and to get into the box, Ball drilled in a great left footed ball and Buckley headed it straight past Cameron.  Curzon are next at home against high flyers Styal FC at the Tameside Stadium Saturday the 29th KO 3pm.
