The
score line says 2-0 to Beechfield Utd and you can’t argue with that
but behind every score line is a story. Good luck to Beechfield who
took their two goals well but the best footballing side over the
whole ninety minutes lost the game.
Curzon always knew that they could play the better football but you
have got to start well something that they never did and they
allowed Utd to take advantage. Utd were always going to win the
physical battle but this young Curzon side will get stronger in that
department although it may take time. Utd knew that they had to get
into this Curzon side to stop them from playing and they did that
well and after only 15 minutes they got their noses in front when
Curzon failed to pick up the advancing midfielder who nipped into
the box unmarked to slot pass Darren Riddett in goal.
Curzon then started to get into the game and start creating chances
themselves but they were not having any luck in front of goal, with
the best chance falling to Ben Richardson who should pulled Curzon
level. Just after Richardson’s miss, on the half hour mark Utd’s
right mid-field man came inside, and as the ball fell to him on the
edge of the box he let fly with a shot that could of gone anywhere?,
but went into the top left hand corner which resulted in a well
taken goal and hurt Curzon who were ruing their missed chances.
In the 2nd half the game changed because for the next 45
minutes Curzon completely dominated the game and did everything
apart from put the ball in the back of the net, it looked like that
Curzon could play all afternoon without scoring and when Adam
Buckley saw his effort come off the post Curzon knew that this was
not going to be there their day and to make matters worse they lost
Chris Ball for the last five minutes when he received his second
booking of the game.
Out of the cup but not despondent, for Beechfield their good start
to the season continues and good luck to them in the next round as
for Curzon? this is still a young side and they will need to learn
from this game and bounce back, they have a massive future ahead of
them and will get a few knocks along the way and if they learn to
take them they will grow stronger and become better players.
They are again in Cup action next Saturday when they take on
Trafford in the 2nd Round of the Cheshire League Division
One Cup – Home KO 3pm.
