NORTON PUTS PEN TO
PAPER (20-05-2008)
The season may be over, but Curzon Ashton manager Gary Lowe has made sure that
his leading goalscorer, Mike Norton, had signed on the dotted line before the
player headed off for a well earned summer break.
Curzon Ashton chairman Harry Galloway (left in the picture) said "Mike could
have started next season off on the option year of his Contract so we are
delighted that he has agreed to extend his current Contract for a further two
years.
"Having scored over eighty goals in the last two seasons, like any other club
you would not wish to see a player with that scoring record leave, so we are
delighted that he is staying with us."
"We had enquires for the lad on a couple of occasions during the season, but we
had no wish to sell and he had no wish to go, so at the end of the day both
parties are more than happy."
To make sure that everything went smoothly Norton took his eight-month-old
daughter Eva along with him to the Tameside Stadium.
