Young defender, Douglas Tharme became the latest addition to a new-look Nash squad, following his departure from National League side, Wrexham at the end of the 2019/20 campaign.
Tharme, 20, made his Wrexham debut in November 2017, before signing his first professional deal with the Welsh club in July 2018. Tharme went on to register seven first team appearances for the Red Dragons, enjoying a run in the first team, having been commended by now Shrewsbury Town boss, Sam Ricketts.
While at the Racecourse Ground, Wirral-born Tharme has also enjoyed numerous loan spells away from the club. In July 2019, Tharme made his first loan switch to AFC Telford, however the defender was recalled from the New Buck's Head by Wrexham just over a month later in September.
Tharme was then assigned another loan move in December 2019, with a switch to Tamworth looking likely, however Wrexham chose to reassign Tharme to Northern Premier League side Gainsborough Trinity, with whom he spent the opening month of 2020.
Most recently, Tharme was with Radcliffe Boro, having arrived at the Neuven Stadium in February, on a deal until the end of the season.
Steve Cunningham was delighted to tie Tharme down on a permanent basis, and looks to help the exciting defender progress with stability at the Tameside Stadium.
He said: "We're really pleased to have secured such a young and promising player, he's come through Wrexham's youth academy from the under-16s and has gone on to sample first-team football, making his debut in the FA Trophy and also being given the club's captaincy when playing in the Scottish Challenge Cup, given to him by current first-team manager, Dean Keates.
"Doug offers great potential as a young defender, he's strong, athletic, very mobile and able to play with both feet. He's very comfortable playing out from the back, but also dominant in the air and in the tackle.
"He plays beyond his years in terms of his maturity, he is very much future captain material and he has an exciting career ahead of him. I'm delighted to be able to help him progress, especially as a secured signing contracted to Curzon Ashton, rather than on a loan" he concluded.
We wish Doug all the best for his time with us!
