My Final Farewell

20 Jan 2018 in News

On Saturday 6th August 2016 I stood in front of a number of guests from Tameside, the National League and FA, announcing our vision as a football Club, and what an 18 months it has been.  I have been asked the question over the last few weeks as to what success I feel I have achieved, it has never been about what I have achieved but what we have achieved together; One Club, One Family.

To be appointed as CEO of Curzon Ashton FC was an incredible honour and I would like to thank the Board of Directors for the opportunity and support during my time.  The last 18 months has seen us achieve a huge amount, the highlights for me include;

  • Creating new and exciting partnerships – Active Tameside, Believe and Achieve Trust, Minuteman Press and Bradley’s Pies
  • Implementing a match day experience
  • A Tameside wide community and disability programme
  • Professionalised our conference and events programme
  • Won two awards; Tameside and Greater Manchester Club of the year
  • New sponsors, new companies advertising, new commercial activity
  • Receiving a number of grants for the stadia pitch renovations and women and girl’s initiatives
  • Developed and embedded the relationship with UCFB to place students, including match day filming
  • Raising the brand profile of the Club through the media locally, regionally and nationally – creating the #wearecurzonashton brand

Having been involved in sport all of my life, my career and competing at the highest level.  I have been around high-level athletics competitions, but my highlight has to be, involvement in the Emirates FA Cup journey, from start to final whistle the passion for the FA Cup is now firmly cemented within me and if I am ever part of the joy of the Cup again I will relish every moment – so thank you to the squad and management!

There are too many people to thank individually (and I'm bound to miss someone out!) you know who you are and I can’t thank you enough, you have made my time at the Club exciting, enjoyable and given me the desire to really push myself to be the best.

I hope as a collective you understand my reasons for moving to Southport Football Club, it was never an easy decision and I want to say that the last 18 months has been an incredible learning curve and journey, and I will not forget the time I have spent at such a wonderful Club and long may the success on and off the field continue.  Good luck for the future…..

Thank you,
