Curzon Ashton sign Adam Barton on a free transfer

Curzon Ashton Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Adam Barton on a free transfer. The 30-year-old midfielder follows Adam Lakeland’s steps in joining the Nash from previous club Farsley and becomes Lakeland’s third addition to the squad since his arrival last month.

Barton came through started his career at Preston North End and spent the first four years of his career at the Lilywhites. During his time at PNE, he made his full international debut earning his only cap for Northern Ireland in a friendly against Morocco.

His career saw him continue to stay in the Football League with spells at Coventry City, Fleetwood Town, and Portsmouth. The midfielder then made the move north of the border and ventured into the Scottish leagues. Time with both Partick Thistle and Dundee United saw him rack up almost 100 appearances in three years.

His next two teams saw him move to Wales with both Connah’s Quay Nomads on loan and eventually a permanent home at National League side Wrexham. His latest home was with current Curzon Ashton manager Adam Lakeland at Farsley Celtic and follows his old manager to the Tameside to be reunited.
