A-Z: Underdog A-Z: Underdog

Today we're dedicating U, not only to our walkout music, but to often being doubted and labelled as the underdogs.

Kasabian's song 'Underdog', has become associated with the club having been used as the music in our tunnel, as the player's make the walk out onto the hallowed Tameside turf for many seasons now. A fitting song for a side who thrive when given the underdog title, showing a doggedness to achieve survival year upon year.

Since promotion to the National League North at the end of the 2014-15 campaign, we have been doubted time and time again, written off as underdogs, yet time after time we defy the odds, felling the division's supposed giants, frustrating visiting supporters who had anticipated the Tameside to be a happy hunting ground.

During our five seasons in the sixth tier, we have enjoyed victories over York City, Chester, AFC Fylde, Harrogate Town, Spennymoor, Darlington, Blyth Spartans and Kidderminster Harriers, many of whom are former professional outfits who featured in the Football League.

Here's to many more!
