Tomorrow, the Nash host newly-promoted Tamworth for the first time since March 2018, in which Curzon ran out 1-0 winners.

A similar result would continue the Nash’s unbeaten run to 7 games and if results go their way, could even see them finish the day top!

Earlier this week, the Nash battered local rivals Warrington Town at Cantilever Park which proved to be a poignant moment as it pushed Curzon Ashton to 2nd, a point behind Scunthorpe United.

It would take 29 minutes to see the first chance as Warrington’s Matty Grivosti twisted and weaved, getting a cross into the box from the left but the waiting Dylan Mottley-Henry couldn’t direct his header on target. Despite the Yellows having the first chance, the first goal wouldn’t fall to the hosts as ex-Yellow Stefan Mols was brought down on the edge of the area, leading to a free kick which was delicately placed into the right corner by Jordan Richards for his first of the season, 1-0.

The Nash wouldn’t rest after taking the lead as they won the ball straight off kick-off leading to Stefan Mols once again being upended this time in the box by ex-Latic Peter Clarke. The first penalty of the new season was tucked away by Will Hayhurst, sending the keeper the wrong way, 2-0. Soon after, referee Jack Hall blew the half-time whistle allowing the Yellows to mull over the disastrous final few minutes of the half.

Half-time saw Yellows manager Mark Beesley make two changes which was shown to have an impact in the early moments as Aaron Bennett set up Matty Grivosti who cut inside of goal scorer Jordan Richards, only to fire low and wide. This quick start from the hosts wouldn’t be enough to prevent them falling further behind as Stefan Mols was again involved in an attacking move, weavings his way through from the right, laying a perfectly weighted ball for Will Hayhurst, making no mistake blasting the ball past Tony Thompson and into the top-left corner, making it four goals for the season, equalling his tally for last season, 3-0.

However, this would be the wing-back’s last involvement in the game as he was taken off shortly after appearing to have taken a knock, replacing him was captain Craig Mahon, who was rested following his game-winning performance on Saturday. The third goal may have gone in, but the hosts didn’t relent in the pursuit of a goal, with several chances, all of which barely troubling Cam Mason in the Curzon goal. A chance of note would come in the 66th minute as Matty Grivosti at-tempted a shot from range, although not finding the top-left corner as intended. As Warrington applied the pressure in the final third, gaps were left open at the back with Cam Mason making the most of this, sending Adam Barton through on goal, only to be shown wide and see his effort fly just wide of the upright.

The Yellows would get their goal after their relentless pressure through the impressive Dylan Mott-ley-Henry, who had been causing issues for the Nash backline all game but the goal that fell his wouldn’t have been one he’d expected, with 5 attempts on goal in the space of a minute, one even being cleared off the line by centurion Marcus Poscha, however not far enough to nullify the threat with Mottley-Henry heading just out of reach for Craig Mahon on the line, 3-1. With time ebbing away, referee Jack Hall indicated a further five minutes of time to play and the Nash would make the most of this as Miles Storey drove down the left-wing, crossing the ball in for Isaac Sinclair who couldn’t miss for his first goal of the season and back at the club, 4-1.

The last goal was the final nail in the coffin for Warrington as that would be the last chance before the full-time whistle was blown with confirmation of Curzon Ashton maintaining their unbeaten streak in dominant fashion. Six played, six unbeaten, many at the Nash don’t want to get ahead of themselves but the very question everyone’s lips was posed in a post by @TheVanaramaNL on Twitter ‘When are we going to open the conversation around Curzon Ashton being promotion con-tenders?.’ Adam Lake-land summarised the game ‘superb performance’ and ‘we were a threat for the remainder of the game.’ The scorer of today’s brace Will Hayhurst furthered this sentiment ‘it’s a good day for me and the team.’

The Lambs spent their bank holiday weekend taming the Bulls at home with a 4-0 win and drawing with then unbeaten Farsley Celtic. With former in mind, the Lambs started quick against Hereford, scoring within seven minutes of play through ex-Bull, Jordan Cullinane-Liburd. They would add to this lead just over 20 minutes later with Dan Creaney notching his first of the season. The 2nd half was dominated by a brace from Kyle Finn about ten minutes apart from each other, crushing Hereford’s chances of a comeback & giving Tamworth their third win of the new season. Lambs manager Andy Peaks commented on the performance ‘really, really good’ and ‘we were fantastic today’. Peaks looked ahead to his trip to Tameside ‘another tough game’ and ‘nice to go there with some points on the board’. Adam Lakeland looked ahead to the Tamworth visit ‘tough, like the rest of them’ and ‘we’ve got to enjoy the work we’ve done this weekend’.
