Craig Mahon’s Curzon Ashton completed the first month of 2024 unbeaten following a strong second-half display.

First-Half
The hosts had the first real opportunity of the tie as Rhys Hughes fashioned himself a shot from just outside the area but is stopped by Greg Hall. Jamie Allen would have the next chance as he hits low from inside the area, seeing his effort deflected millimetres wide of Greg Hall’s goal by Louis Jeanne. Wythenshawe Town would have their first foray forward as Rodney Ajayi shaped to shoot from a ranged free kick, forcing Cam Mason into a save down low, resulting in a corner.
The visitors would come closest with the following corner as Bruno Severino latched onto a loose ball in the box, firing towards the bottom right corner, only to be denied by Alex Kenyon on the line. This period of dominance for Wythenshawe Town resulted in another chance soon after as Rodney Ajayi had another go from range, Cam Mason once again matching the midfielder’s attempt with great diving save. Rodney Ajayi would be involved again as he fired a long-range effort over the bar. Curzon Ashton would finish the half as they began it, as Hayden Campbell had an effort from range which was dragged wide of Greg Hall’s goal. Devon Matthews would try to repeat his goal versus Boston United earlier in the season as looked to let fly from range but hit well wide of his intended target. Will Hayhurst looked to add to his already large tally of goals for the season as he shot first time from range, seeing his effort rise well above Greg Hall’s net.

Second-Half
Wythenshawe Town would have the first attempt in the second forty-five as Bruno Severino was sent through into the box, placing an effort down to Cam Mason’s right, the shot stopper reacting brilliantly to push it away. The stalemate would be breached not long after as Adam Barton picked up the ball in the box, laid it for Jamie Allen to strike first time into bottom left corner, his second goal for the club, both coming in the Frank Hannah Manchester Premier Cup, 1-0.
Will Hayhurst test Greg Hall from range soon after, the shot being too hot to handle as his defence cleaned up the scraps. Player/Manager Craig Mahon had his first involvement going forward, sending a long-range effort wide of the goal. The Nash doubled their lead with fifteen minutes to go, Hayden Campbell battling well outside the area, finding himself some space, then bending a shot into the bottom right corner, his ninth goal for the club, 2-0. A moment to savour would follow as Will Hayhurst would make way for 16-year-old Charlie Bingley, a Curzon Ashton under-18 forward making his senior debut. Rodney Ajayi would continue his wild efforts from range, this time on the half volley, looping well-over the bar. Heart in mouth moment towards the end as Hayden Campbell won the ball off keeper Greg Hall outside the area, the scraps falling to Adam Barton who chips towards goal, only to find the right-hand post.
